Slightly better conditions 16 December

This morning there was at least some reasonable gaps in the clouds however it was very windy and the clouds were moving quickly. Unlike yesterday we did manage to get a Ha full disk and some Ha close ups of active regions and proms. AR3165 has had 16 M class flares in the last 24 hrs. AR3163 is facing us directly and has unstable magnetic fields.
Full disk Ha taken with Solar Scout 60 double stacked with 40mm Lunt etalon, ASI178MM & 0.5x reducer.
Close up images taken with 72ED, double stacked with Solar Scout Quark and Lunt 40mm etalon and ASI174MM.

Hi Peter and Clare, yes slightly better conditions today - things might pick up soon. At least there are plenty of features to follow. Cheers, John W.

Thanks John. Yes you're right, there's plenty to follow at the moment. The next few days are looking more encouraging except for the wind. We'll see how it goes
