Cheap Toucams

came across an e-bay offer for a box of Toucam cameras (16 in all) - cost per unit is about A$17!

Not sure if these are the "right" ones for astrophotography.

If someone wanted to buy the lot I'd certainly take one

I believe the XS has a CMOS chip and is considered unsuitable for astrophotog?

It's the 840 (any of them) and 900nc that you want for astrophotography.

Niko, they are the older style of Toucam.
The Toucam 'XS' is also known by the code PCVC720K.

They are no good for Astro work as they have a CMOS chip and are only 10 lux.
The minimum for Astro work is 1 lux.

They aren't worth more than the seller is asking as they are an outdated low grade webcam.

If you would like to check the specs, they are here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/d...uctInformation
