Horsehead

Got around 4 hours of data in Ha, SII and OIII total last night on the Horsey. 5 minute exposures with my Askar 107PHQ, 2600mm Pro, Antlia 3nm filters, EQ6-R Pro mount. Really not a lot of data to work with, hardly any Oxygen in there some good sulphur. Processed in Pixinsight and finished in photoshop.

Wow that nb data really makes the detail in the nebulously around the horsehead standout. Great work!

Yeah it does for sure. Have to be very careful when processing to not push anything too much and lose that detail.

I had a bit of a reprocess as I'm still very new to Mono. I realise now my O3 was stuffed with nasty gradients and I shot it at the wrong time and wrong night. Moving forward I'll be only capturing O3 after the meridian as I have a lot less sky glow that direction, and when the moon isn't around. As a result with the data I have I'll never get the colours the way I want them. Still, I did this one a bit more subtle, got a bit more detail out of the bright areas, and even some detail in NGC 2023. Quite happy with that.

Superb detail. The actual horse head itself looks awsome .
