Jupiter and a 350D

Here is a pic of Jupiter and it's moons that I took with my 350D last night with a 200mm lens (equiv to 315 for 35mm film). I post it because I was surprised with what I picked up and as an encouragement to those like me who want to play with their dSLR but have a dob! Second pic is the same but with the moons and their magnitudes labelled.

Nice work Everard!

You might find that a webcam like the ToUcam 900nc will do an even better job of picking up detail on Jupiter with an undriven dob. It can be a frustrating experience, but it can be done.

Check out some of middy's recent work in this forum, or check out my article in the projects&articles section.

Keep at it!

I love these wide filed images showing the planets and their moons – they provide a real insight into the dynamics of our solar system.

Cheers

Dennis
