Saturn Monday 10 October 2022

The only image we managed to salvage from the ordinary conditions on Monday night (10 October) was one of Saturn with four moons. Mimas was lost in the sharpening band of the rings. The high clouds really played havoc with everything and even this image is only just there.

Really nice shot- good detail and very smooth! While I’ve found visual observation can be quite rewarding with high cloud (just don’t get rained on!) I’ve found it very frustrating imaging due to the changing exposure brightness just plays havoc on the stack. Having said that, I’d take anything right now compared to current conditions…

Thanks David. Yep agreed, a clear sky is a luxury these days. Even though there was high cloud the other night, it was pleasant and you could view to some degree at least.
