Aurora Australis (diffuse) from Mount Nelson Tasmania

Ok so this is not much but it is my FIRST ever Aurora image! Taken from mount nelson in Tasmania on 30th Sept 2022. I was tracking conditions for about 3 weeks prior and knew there would be some activity while I was down there on holiday - So I managed to take multiple shots of 30sec at ISO 800 with my modified Canon 500d (on tripod). I am now determined to go back down and get more of this wonderful natural phenomenon next year!

Well done, Paul. Not just the Aurora, but I can see the LMC and Eta Carina as well.

Maybe a bit of cropping, but I don't think the image needs anything else doing to it - the aurora colours are clear and bright, and the stars are perfectly in focus.

Cheers,
V

Thanks Steve. Appreciate the comments. I feel lucky to have even got this as I spent the following night set up in the dark in the cold for hours and it didn't show up! Looking forward to chasing this again next year

I have to agree, lovely bit of work, and I don't think it needs anything else done to it. Well done.
