New DSLR - I Really, Really Love My Wife

Jenny came home this evening and proceeded to serve dinner. Nothing out of the ordinary - hello's, a bit of TV, a conversation and a drink.

She then, after I'd finished, asked me to go to the front door to bring in a bag of groceries she'd left there.

I came back to open the bag and find a brand new Nikon D40 DSLR. It has blown me away. She's unbelievable. What a totally unexpected surprise.

It suits all of my existing Nikon Ai lenses (I have 10 of various types) so she knew that this camera would suit, as it mounts all of the older Nikon lenses. She'd done her homework on-line. She silently knew that without a DSLR I'd struggle along with the webcam, but would never get any results that I'd consider decent.

She is the most incredibly wonderful person in my life. I can't even think how lucky I am to have her.

Thank you honey!!! I love you!

Chris

That is so nice, and a CCD no less.
I have been working with the d50 ( similar but last years model) very good camera for what you will sometimes do with it... order a remote right away.. I had a job getting my hands on one last time down here.
That was so nice .. thanks for sharing such a lovely moment .. sniff..I have to go.

You are indeed a very lucky man Chris on two fronts.
One for having a wonderful wife in Jenny and two for such a nice camera.

I await your first widefields.

Cheers

Are those AF-i's autofocus? The D40 doesn't have a motor, which I dislike.

Nice cam though!

Thanks everyone. She's a very special girl, my wife!

Being able to record our exploits easily is just so valuable to us.

Hi Ingo

The lens that came with the camera is an AF-s, which is motorised. Yes, there is no motor in the body, which is one of the fundamental differences between the D40 and the D80, I gather. The rest is basically the same. It's not what you would call a "cut-down" D80. Most of the features were kept - and others added. For what I want, the 40 suits me better. Not having an AF motor in the body doesn't worry me too much, as all of my lenses are Ai - from the 70's & 80's).

Cheers
Chris

PS - How's Albany? I miss Poughkeepsie/Patterson/Mohonk.

Chris,
Jenny is truly a diamond, and not just because she bought the camera.
Give her a big hug from me!!
Bring the camera along on Saturday to Stargard.

Absolutely John! I'm going to give it a go on the refractor. CAN'T WAIT for Stargard, it's been too long without a fix. My last one was at SPSP.

I will give Jenny a big hug from you!

See you there

Cheers
Chris
