Eta Carina and Running Chicken Nebulae Mosaic

Another bucket list pairing completed. I took this four-panel mosaic in one night while camping in a Bortle 1 location in the Darling Downs.

This went pretty smoothly until I had a power failure while shooting my final panel (upper left quadrant), which was luckily one that did not contain too much nebulosity - or anything interesting for that matter. It ended up only being about 45 minutes behind the other 3 panels, which were 2 hours each. Shooting at F/2 on a moonless, bortle 1 night was as good as it sounds, and I am pretty happy with the amount of faint stuff I was able to pull out with only 2 hours of exposure.

Eqipment: Samyang 135mm, ASI294MC Pro, Wedged Nexstar Evolution Mount, Optolong UV/IR Cut, Orion 50mm Guide Scope, ASI290MM Mini Guide Camera.

Processing: DSS -> Photoshop (Starnet V2, RCA Gradient Xterminator, RCA Star Shrink, Topaz Denoise)

Thanks Kevin,

Happy to live in a country where Bortle 1 is really only 3 hours away from anywhere…

That's a terrific shot. A good widefield is quite an uplifting image.
