6th Feb. Clouds hampered observation today again. I managed to get a couple of images - one at 540 nm to show the sunspots (there are two tiny new spots near the western limb); the other image is at Halpha wavelength to show a large prominence on the SE limb. I measured this prominence to be around 109,000 km high. Both single exposures with a Canon 550d camera. Thanks for viewing.

Nice details John. Space weather suggests that the SE prominence would "swallow 30 earths" ... big!

Once again you've given us a great record of the current activity.
The newly named AR 2942 was the region I commented on regards the "sparkling diamonds"

It seems to be more up to date that Space Weather.

To P & C. I use "Space Weather live" and click on Solar activity. They seem to be the most up to date. Cheers John W
