Jupiter April 18 2007. GRS in transit

Here is another set of images from April 18 UT (April 19 AEST). This set shows the GRS crossing the CM. The GRS has a fascinating blue ring around its outer perimeter. The f. end of the GRS also has a blue knob (visible in the RGB image). Although this blue knob is not visible in the UV, it is visible in the near-IR. Perhaps this is the source of the blue material currently enveloping the GRS. The p. end of the GRS in particular has a near-IR dark spot which may help determine its current rotation rate. The area around the GRS is even more interesting in the methane band. In 889 nm, the southern, northern, and p. ends are methane-dark. This methane-dark arc around the GRS is poorly visible in RGB.

The NTB white spot outbreak is visible in all wavelengths shown and extends from the p. end white spot, to the f. limb.

Another excellent image!

I see you're using the Skynyx for planetary now? You've got the filterwheel + filters now?

What filterwheel are you using?
