UK Astro gear about to get cheaper for Australians!

The UK and Australia have signed a historic trade agreement which removes tariffs on all UK exports to Australia!

https://www.cityam.com/uk-and-austra...ch-trade-deal/

All your favourite UK astro brands like nPAE, Orion Optics and Altair Astro can be imported free of Australian import duties from the 1st July 2022.

That's good news as I like what First light optics offer and at a decent price despite the exchange

Does that really scrap the import limit by post though?

Just guessing here......
You'll still get slugged with GST on personal shopping online but it may be cheaper from the outset so you still save.

What l am confident in is that import tarrifs will be gone so importers will be able to import cheaper, and hopefully by the time it hits the shelves it will be cheaper than it used to be

Given the small market of amateur astronomy, the importer is often the retailer and that's where we should see the savings the most with lower costs and more range available.
Hopefully.

If I could remember anything getting cheaper, ever, I would be hopeful for this one… And I’ve been around for a while… Would love to be proven wrong…
