Hello all

just wanted to say hi My names Mick and living south of Perth.
I'm a long time lurker over the last year or so and wanted extend my thanks to all the informative posts on here. its so nice that people freely share their knowledge and experience so others can learn.

i have yet to purchase my first mount and telescope instead trying to learn with my DSLR (Nikon D850) with star tracker and binoculars
ive had some reasonable success with the milky way and star trails
But my first attempts at Orion and Andromeda were pretty lame compared to what i see on here lol
but now i have a star tracker (star adventure 2i Pro)
i got some good photos of comet Leonard the other night and hope to shoot some of the nebula around Orion over the Christmas Break (cloud permitting)
i have had a long time love of all types of photography and now stepping into the huge world of astrophotography

Welcome Mick. You can get some good results with your tracker and the Nikon. I strongly suggest that you learn to get the best out of your Nikon before plunging into the expensive world of mounts, scopes, guiding,
and a plethora of software. You will then be able to make a much more informed decision about what equipment will best suit your needs.
I and others using DSLRs have had images published in astro mags, so
don't go thinking that you need to immediately plunge into fancy gear.
Some things in AP are counterintuitive to newbies coming from conventional
terrestrial photography, so start by learning and practicing the basics.

and yes Raymo i agree
i worked out pretty early that the world of astro imaging is something i should to walk into and not run
my analogy would be eating a pizza, if you shove the whole thing in your mouth at one time you will choke and most likely never eat pizza again

can anyone point me in the direction of posting images, what file sizes allowed ect ect i have an account with Astrobin is it easier you to link a url to the site

Sure can, when you post a thread, in "go advanced" just scroll down a little further and you will see ( Manage Attachments) click on that and a window will open letting you browse your computer and up load images, however they are only allowed to be 200 kb's.
Hope this helps.

Just an add on to what Leon said; you can post images up to about 2mb,
and IIS will automatically reduce them to under 200kb.
