Brought tears to my eyes - Cleo found safe and well

I am normally a stoic person and it takes a lot to bring me to tears, when I heard the news this morning that little Cleo was found safe and OK after being missing for 18 days, I shed some tears.

Now-a-days I only cry when watching the news.

Not a result I would have backed at any odds...

Happy warm feeling indeed...

We can only hope for her sake that she was not mistreated over those 18 days. Mistreated beyond the obvious of being stolen and held a prisoner. Heaven knows what that will do to her mental health without any worse treatment.

All I can do is wonder at the emotion and elation that must have been felt by the police officer who, on finding her, asked her name and then hearing: "my name is Cleo"

Best

Fantastic News indeed, they said safe and well, safe for sure, hopefully she will be well, and was not mistreated, a joyous moment indeed.

I think the nation as a whole breathed a huge sigh of relief at the news of her being found safe and well. Pretty hard for any parent especially, not to feel a little emotional at the news and be happy for the childs parents.

Unfortunately harm has been done in taking her away from her family and locking her away for 18 days .. terrifying for a child that age. I just wish the media would now back off and let the family heal and let the Police get on with their job which hasn't ended.

Agreed
the saturation media coverage and "trial by media" has already started.
This will make the trial harder but luckily WA has trial by judge laws which can eliminate some issues they may have with a jury that may have formed an opinion by media opinion.

That assumes it ever gets to a trial. My betting is on the man involved getting himself a tame shrink who will (for an exorbitant fee of course) declare that he was denied a Terminator doll as a child and developed PTSD as a result and was therefore uable to distinguish between right and wrong. He'll end up with a fistfull of Prozac and a psychiatric discharge into the community after some token period in a ward.

There are already reports of his suffering self-inflicted injuries and not being in a fit state to be charged.

Of course the media, with it's usual mindlessness will pursue every sensational headline they can no matter what the consequences to any hope of a fair trial. Even if convicted, that sort of thing us a direct pathway to an appeal. But the headline is everything these days. Prurient interest trumps decency every day.
