NGC6559 - HaRGB

My take on this well visited and imaged area of the sky.
Approximately 21 hours of exposure times with my TSA120 and QSI683 camera.
Full details to be found in the Astrobin post. Click on image in Astrobin for higher resolution.

Astrobin post here.

btw: I also have narrowband data and will now proceed to work on these. For teasers, I have attached screen shots for the Ha, OIII and SII masters.

This is one of my favourite objects! Very nicely done Rodney!

Can I suggest though that you you have a look at your blue master? There's more refl neb to be teased out if you've managed to record it with 5 min subs (cf: here)

Hmmm, yes - very good observation. Shall revisit and see what is to be found.

I agree with Marc about the reflection nebula and also bit more differentiation in the colour of NGC 6559. This was my version from a few years ago.

https://www.astrobin.com/304370/

It is also one of my favourite areas.
It is already a fabulous image, a bit more blue could make it outstanding .
Cheers

Thanks George, your image is a fine example of this area. I'm on the hunt now for my missing blue reflection nebula.

A very nice image as always Rodney. That extra blue reflection neb if you can capture it would be the icing on the cake.

Greg.

Thanks Greg. I agree that it is worth pursuing. I'm a little puzzled as to why it hasn't come through. Nevertheless, I have time to capture some more blue data before the object gets too low.

Looks really nice, I know mine will never be as good until I get a new camera, but I am currently trying for this one on my DSLR. Like to get a comparison.

Martin/Malcom/Mathew/Pete, many thanks for your feedback and taking the time to check out the image. I'm happy with this image from the composition and Ha capture and will be looking to see if I can bring out more of the blue reflection nebula as well. I will do some work on the narrowband data first though.

Clear skies,
Rodney

Aaah yes, the baby octopus!

Nicely composed Rodney,

As mentioned above, it looks a bit 2D without the blue. At Marcus' suggestion, I managed to eke out a bit more blue from my bortle 7 backyard skies during lockdown #2.
With your skies, you should have no troubles improving on this version!

Funny, I started on the same target this week before the rain came again.

Always the way I was lucky to get a couple of clear nights last new moon though they seem few and far between at the moment. Hopefully this new moon will be a little kinder.

Thanks Andy and agreed that is is quite puzzling as to why the reflection nebula did not come through in the processing. It is absent from the blue master so I’m going to go back to first steps to check the calibration. I’m going grab a little more data on the blue as well whilst I have the chance.
