Close up of the Trifid just getting the Pillars

Used the 2x converter to go to F11.2 ans 2800mm FL. Seeing was mostly ok though every now and then the guide star would blur into a wobbly mass 3 times the size for a bit.

I was aiming for the pillars that HST imaged so Ive posted a comparison. Its juuuust visible in my image, I got plenty of blue reflection nebulosity around the hot bright stars at the core.

The 30x live view of the Ra makes accurate focusing so much easier and a handy trick is to zoom in on a bright star then set shutter speed to say 500th sec, it makes the star much smaller and dimmer but the refresh rate on the screen is now much higher so can focus it down to the smallest possible, can even see it shimmering in the seeing.
