Leo Triplet's 1 hour 33 minutes

Hi guys,

Finally captured the leo triplets in the same fov . before i had to capture one by one with the DSI and stitch them together.

31 x 3 minutes at ISO 400 with the canon 300d modified in the C10 F4.7 autoguided with Orion ED80 + meade DSI II.

Weather condition was quite misty that is why 1 hour 33 minutes. I don't normally spend that much time on one object

Hey Eric,
gotta do the time to get the detail and smoothness on these fairly faint guys.
Good to see you going for it!
I love these galaxies and haven't had a real good chance at them this year.
So it's good to see others being able to get something down.

Looking again at your images, can't help to think that you really need to do some flat fielding here.... the back ground is very uneven and blotchy....
Makes life really hard when processing these fainter, delicate objects..

I'm pretty lucky that I've never really had to do any flats..... but I know heaps of folk that have to to correct any optical problems..

Worth the quick learning curve I'd say Eric..

Thanks for sharing..
All the best
Rich

Great picture! I'm happy that you can get them all in the same FOV, I'm lucky to fit in the two closest ones together!
Shawn, I think you may have just sharpened that a little too much...

I thought so Dr Nick, lost a bit of the finer the detail too...It looked ok on my screen well sort of,,, I think to get the best out of that one would be to create a fairly complicated mask..The detail is certainly there though...

Good one Ezy...

Hi Rich, i know what you mean. I check and process my images on a CRT 19" monitor, but on the laptop i can see the gradient you are talking about. going to try to subtract a master flat instead.

cheers
