NGC4038 - LRGB - Interacting Galaxies

Trying hard to emulate the fine work seen here, but I think I need help.

Stats:
15 of 5m subs LRGB each, total integration of 5 hours.
Very good seeing.

Steps taken in PI:
Each channel:
ABE - background extraction
MLT - Noise removal
HT - Stretch

LRGB combination (after registration)
Deconvolution - Sharpen
CT - curves
ACDNR - noise

Photoshop:
Lightness, Contrast, Saturation

Comments most welcome about the outcome, and thanks for reading this far

It does look pretty good. Got a high resolution? Also what scope and camera did you use?

Hi Peter,
It's looking good already and more data will help reveal the tidal tails.

Very cool. Really nice details.
All you need is more integration time now to smooth it out. You already have the two tails and more in the underlying data.

For a six inch scope and the time you had available, you've done a SPLENDID job.

Only constructive comment is that there's some black ringing around bright features, suggesting slightly too much sharpening.

Thanks MnT

Deconvolution has always been a challenge for me.
There seems to be a fine line of getting it right and wrecking everything.
Will have to spend more time practising.

Decon is a good tool if used well, and it can be hard to find the right balance. If you can get away with out using it, all the better.
Having said that, I think you have done a tremendous job.
