Last DSLR shot

M83 Southern Pinwheel Galaxy

After toying around with reducer or not, I chose the latter. This could well be the last dslr image I post here, depends...

10 x 300s lights ISO 800
15 darks
15 bias

RC8 was weapon of choice for the evening and after wasting a night dialing in OAG I'm glad I did. I've never had low numbers like it produces.

Probably over saturated the colours, it happens...

A great result for the DSLR.

Lots of detail and colour starting to appear.

Assume you are looking at a cooled camera?

If so you won't look back as the reduction in noise is huge.

Time spent on getting the guiding 'dialed in' is not wasted and has allowed you the 5m exposures.

Well done Karl

That’s a very fine image of M83 with a DSLR and colour is excellent ( unfortunately noise floor is extreme ) I had to limit my 600D to 2 minute subs during the warmer months as the images were just full of noise , I even made an external mini cooling fan attached with a aluminium bracket to try and get the sensor temperature down which reduced it by only 5 degrees. DSLRs are great but not in summer under my Bortle 8 light polluted skies
If your looking for a Cooled OSC camera with APS-C sensor and if budget allows the 2600MC is simply unbelievable, but if outside your budget I’d recommend the 071MC next
You will be amazed at how good these latest cooled OSC cameras perform
Good luck !!
Martin
