Jupiter 6th April - Tassie

i did not turn the cooling until i was out there at 3am......the mirror was 1.8 degrees above, so i turned it on and within 1/2 hour, was ready to image

no dew, was able to get nice histograms on all filters....L was at 30 fps, RGB at 15fps.

I imaged 40 secs L, 15 secs each for RGB and have got the filter swapover to 8 seconds.

Seeing was not great, i had a lovely ambient mirror, E/SE winds basically bring everything over the mountains.

The High should be parker over me tonight for the transit

This image scale is the 5xpowermate, filter wheel and lu075m. With the bigger pixels, my image is smaller than the toucam for the same setup

A question for all those out there!!!

I was topping out the histo, so is it best to reduce gain back down from 100% OR back the exposure and leave the gain at 100%???????

Nice one Dave. Reduce the gain. Less gain = less grain.

Davo, good to see another image from you down there...

If you can reduce the gain then that is a Good Thing (tm) as the IceMan sayeth.

I find that I'm usually running max gain in red and blue, but only about 85% gain in green. The result is that the green channel images have a bit less noise.

Only 7 weeks until Wartook :-)

ps has my dvd reached you yet?

regards, Bird

Won't be out tomorrow morning, weather still crappy here, maybe tomorrow night/Sunday mmorning?

Sent the DVD on Wednesday (I think). Went to your work PO box, it'll probably be there on Tuesday when you go back to work.
