Apogee camera

Hi Jugen,

can the Apogee 8300 with either of the filter wheels be connected to a Canon EOS lens? You mention adapters: are these for different back spacing between telescope filter wheel and U8300 ccd?

Hi Stefan
You Canon lenses have a back focus of 44mm.
The Apogee/Filter Wheel/Canon adaptor distance is 48mm, so in short it will be too long to gain focus.
A more common way is to use a Pentax medium format 200 or 300mm lens which is more commonly used for astro imaging and these can be purchased for $150/200 and have a back focus in excess of 80mm so my imaging setup will easily work on the style of lens.
