Mind reading????

Without getting too serious and certainly not trying to establish the proposition I post this for a "chat"
Do you have any experience where you have been left thinking we can communicate by thought alone?
I realized my dogs respond when I told them it was time for their food... bickies come and get your bickies... they get excited. Nothing new there.

I noticed they would get excited even when I moved in the direction of their food bin. Well they are always on the look out for food as dogs always are. But I tookit further.
So on no less than 6 occasions I have sat without a move and simply pictured them being fed. they still got excited and moved to the food bin.

On each occasion I have tried this I am very careful not to give the game away yet they respond.
Six times is not a good sample but it certainly makes me wonder what on Earth is going on.
And many times people will do what you are ready to ask them to do... again it’s hard to accept anything but a coincidence.
So in that context I ask has anyone ever had similar experiences (with out asking for proof) causing you to consider the possibility that somehow thoughts can be picked up upon by others.

Indeed, my friend.

Writing as an ex-banker I can assure you that one seemed to hone one's skills of the 'sixth sense' variety. It could well have been body language or simply general demeanour, but you got to know whether a customer was fair dinkum or a bull**** artist. I cannot explain it, but even before a proposition was presented or the customer had spoken one 'sort of knew'.

When I was courting my wife (it still happens now on occasion) it was not at all unusual for us to bring up a subject of which we had not been discussing or viewing and which, as far as I could gather, had no relationship to what we were doing at the time (settle!) and begin our sentences with exactly the same words and at exactly the same time.

On a number of occasions one of my cats, neither of which is particularly effusive with their affections, has wandered in and kept me company when I was feeling a bit off-colour.

Perhaps I read in too much to these coincidences. I like to think though that there is 'something'.

After having number of dogs in my lifetime (pity that their life span is much shorter then ours) I agree with Dujon about reading body language. But I had other experiences that make me wonder what is the possibility of such a think happening. Just recently as I was switching on computer I was telling my wife “Life is like box of chocolates …” and she asked me from which movie is that. My mind went blank and I could not remember. I log on IIS and open Alex’s tread where he say “I think what Forrest Gump really meant to say was "life ends in a box".
Many times I have been thinking or talking about a person I have not been in contact for long time and the phone rings and that person is calling me.

Well it is a coincidence but it makes me wonder.

Just had an experience of somehow picking up anothers train of thought which at any other time I would have missed . AND it taught me something ..that feeling of knowing the point another is going to make leaves your mind rushing past the point they have yet to make ...with the words "I know what you mean", "I know what you are going to say". Which is very rude really so that is a positive step I reckon .

It was helpful with this thread on board to stop and listen ..for once .. to what was being said just in case I did not know the next time that would be raised.
But all unfolded the way I expected which again leaves me wondering more about the proposition of mind reading . I try to come up with a way it could happen and maybe the brain responds to the electrical impulses some how going on in others heads . The power of thinking positive may have a tangible base after all .

Hmmm well the brain operates on a certain electrical frequency, and sending and receiving messages, radio, TV are well understood. If a person had an abnormal growth on the part of the brain that transmits messages, I wouldn't have problem believing that under certain circumstances, say if an unusually high squirt of growth hormone caused that part of the brain to grow, that the signals being sent could be picked up by an equally sensitive receiver (another person).

I guess the movie about Mutants, is not that unbelievable, given that the human body does respond to chemicals, and under controlled or accidental conditions, an amplification of brain activity, is not so unbelievable

So where do you buy these growth hormones. My CDMA phone service will be discontinued next year as will everyones... seems like the perfect time to start taking them so the change over will be smooth . Better not jump in on the new iceinspace cap until head size stabalises .

Funny you mention that john .. whenever the bank manager visits our farm I have to lock the dog up as he wants to rip the the back out of his pants as his initial greeting.. maybe dogs are much smarter than any of us could ever imagine

thanks alex, you have relieved alot of my ongoing anxiety.

if, as you say, they were talking about you behind your back then that telepathy idea goes right out the window. for awhile, i've been thinking we were on the verge of a well thought out coup. we feed, water, walk, and in general bow down to thier every whem while all they do is lie around all day. i just knew that the human race was just days away from a major rebellion.

I did not actually hear them talking but I knew they were because they were very quiet when I entered the room .
I like the theory rather idea.. as it has made no predictions and remains unsupported by by experiment..that we owe our power of speech to dogs .
It goes this way ..having dogs around in our early days when we lived in caves as they say, the fact that we did not need to develope the sence of smell, they took care of that for us, it allowed room in our brains to develope the software for speech .
The neanderthals on the other hand being cat lovers, i figure , took up the area in their brain they could have used for speech to develop a keen sence for smell.
We got the advantage over them because of the dog and presumably we were able to eliminate them from the huminiod contest .. I like the idea .
I dont like the idea put forward by cat lovers that dogs have masters and cats have staff however and prefer this..you feed a dog and he thinks... my master feeds me he must be God whereas the cat when fed thinks wow he feeds me I must be God . No doubt the dog is correct and the cat full of itself.
Hope hearing these oldies brings a smile to your day.

Not at all, Graham. It's just that the dogs, intelligent though they are, wish to increase their understanding of the world and desire to increase their intelligence quotient. What better way than grabbing hold of a smart arse?

At first I felt nothing... but then a feeling of overwhelming failure... followed by a positive hope for the future...then a realisation I needed a break for a couple of days.

Usually when we do something we do prepare some image of it in our mind before hand. I must take the bin out, mind prepares the body for the task. Perhaps releasing some scent or pheromones to indicate this and the dogs can pick up on that. Similar thing occurs when your having a nightmare and you wake up swetty. The illusion or images have created a reaction in the physical world, and others can detect it. Dog's have a keen sense of smell.

Regards
