Kulnura TONIGHT! Friday 23rd.
Hi guys.
For those on the Central Coast, or that want to come from Sydney or Newcastle areas, we'll be at Kulnura (the paintball place) tonight.
Rod will be there from around 6:30pm with his 20" SDM!
I'll be there between 7pm and 7:30pm. I probably won't bring my scope, I'll get an eyefull enough through Rod's beast!
The skies will be clear!
Look forward to catching up! See you there.

Don't need to know or bring anything - just follow the map and find yourself a spot to park and setup.
Just a casual observing session. Hope to see you there!

At last, some clear skies!
Looking forward to seeing everyone, and Alex and Silwat, it will be great if you can come! I have disassembled the scope, ready for packing, and fixed the digital setting circles which were not co-operating last night on the Argo Navis which will make locating object much easier.
The views last night through the scope were great! When you can see deep green and 6 stars in the Trap when it is still twilight, you know you have one great mirror! I am looking forward to less light pollution, can't imagine how good it will be.
RB has said he may not be able to make it, maybe later in the evening. Hope we see you, RB.

Welcome to iceinspace Paddy we must be neighbours I am in Sydney as well. I think what Forrest Gump really meant to say was "life ends in a box".
I probably wont make it as I am still trying to organise my driver who at this point is not responding to my messages.
I really would like to get there to meet some of you fine people...the viewing is of secondary consideration.
If I dont make it I hope everyone has a great night and it remains clear and dry.

I am very happy for everyone that it was a very clear night. I finally got out myself but it just made me think about Rod's scope really. Little sky glow was not bad ...a big surprise given the night before.

I pulled in at home at 3am. Kids had me out of bed by 6.45am, so I am feeling somewhat stuffed.
Wasn't last night something special? I am very proud of my girl. Mike, your observing report pretty much says what I would say....on the two good nights I have observed, the Humunculus has been the stand out object. The detail that is evident is quite remarkable.
After you left Mike we took in Jupiter, split Antares, took a peek at M4, and returned to some favourites of the night, such as Centaurus A, Omega Centaurus, and again the Humunculus.
The night was rounded off with cigars and chummy banter.
It was great to meet JonathanK, who is from the Bordeaux region in southern France, and has been in Australia for 8 months. Thanks for the company, Jonathan. I hope you can join us at SPSP15.
As always, great to spend time with RB, Mike, Deeno and Geoff.

Hence Forth
this scope will not be referred to as a "Beast"
SHE is a "Pearl"
and you can add that to the naming list Rod - She certainly deserves it
geoff - the bedazzled Owl - still!

Yep, for me, it was one of the best observing nights at Kulnura, I really enjoyed myself.
I crawled into bed at 5.30am.
Not much more I can add but to say thank you to Rod for letting us share your beautiful beautiful scope !

Ahh shucks! Sounds like a great night, wish I could have been there! Unfortunatley though "Uh, I have to leave so I can go look at the sky" doesn't go down so well with the boss. Hopefully I will see you all next time, and perhaps even, the "pearl".

 What a beauty scope Rod!!!
It was great to meet you guys and really amazing to look through the big Dob.
And fortunately we did this on the friday cause in Sydney the weather was very bad this night so it may be the same in Kulnura.
I'd like to add I felt blind after the view of Sirius through the Dob. It was so bright!!!
Look forward for the next time!
Have a good night, good morning, good sunday, good weekend...
