What do these symbols mean?

I see these symbols on various websites and I am intrigued by what they mean. This example is off QHY's website.

They're QR Codes. In this example, they're for use by a smartphone or tablet - you scan the code, which contains a URL (typically, a web site address) for a web browser or app to follow.
