M8 Lagoon in the morning.. my best?

Hi Guys,

Here's M8 Lagoon right next to the crecent moon early in the morning. 10 x 5minutes at ISO800 with the C10 using baader UHC-S/MPCC and the unmodded 350D.

Hope you guys like it.

Cheers

Yes Eazy stop wasting your time get a Hubble and all that goes with it and then the naysayers might be quiet. Personally I am going to get a stereo Hubble so all may be revealed in glorious 3D.
Meanwhile I will do the best I can with the equipment I possess as I am sure you will do this as well.
By the way the fourth star to the left of center is a little to bland for my liking!

great image and fantastic result, but you could have rotated the camera soas to try and get more of it in frame. I like ice cream in hell too!

top effort Eric..I am just surprised you are able to image at ISO 800 at all, let alone for 5 minutes ..you must have fairly decent skies?

cheers guys thanks. I wish i can afford a SBIG that will be very nice i guess we all have our piorities in life and at this stage, i can't justify spending a few grand on a camera. SBIG will come abit later.. maybe a few years when the price drops alittle. want to trade equipment rob?
I like your way of thinking Bert. im trying to max out what i can do with the 350D unmodded before the modded 300D arrives next week or two.. that i can't wait Was too scare to knock my focus when rotating the camera houghy. M8 wasn't my last object nor my first in the 8 hour night does kind of look like an icypole.

hey narayan, i wish i have a 1/2 decent sky here. there is a shopping centre packed with st lights about 10 minutes from my place. see pic top right in red is my place. the baader UHC-S filter helps quite alot to remove the skyglow around my area.

Perform wonders

That's a fine image indeed Eric

I know what Rob is trying to say and I am sure he was only being friendly. It is clear that you are very keen and certainly have some real talent, you are fast becoming a very good imager, with a dedicated CCD in your hands and with your enthusiasm for imaging it is clear to me you could perform wonders.

That said, I look forward to seeing what the modified Canon does too so keep at it dude

Lagoon

Hi Eric,
Great picture, sharp focus, and the colour is very good, comsidering its an unmodded Camera, you must have done a lot of processing to bring out the nice red hue, Wonder if you have an F-6.3 MEADE/Celestron focal reducer corrector (should work fine with that scope) would get you a better FOV for thse larger objects, I see you are getting a modded 300D (same as im using) a very good choice the Ha will jump out and grab you when you start using it.
P.S. just noted you have an F-4.7 on the Scope, so disregard my comments re the FR
cheers........Jim

Thats a very nice shot, showing all the outer detail but not burnt out in the centre.

Thanks Andrew,Jim and scott. yes, the modded camera esp with the red channel. It will help me not to process it 'too' much in that field

Hey Eric, I took 5 minutes and studied every aspect of both images side by side and IMHO (please don't flame me), I believe that the first one is better than your second one.

I believe the second one has blended a lot of the fine detail and tends to blur it, where as the original is much sharper.

Once again, please read my disclaimer, it is my opinion only and if others disagree, good luck to them.

not at all Ron. feel free to diss it in anyway you can find. I can only learn from other opinions. i just thought the original one colours were not balanced properly. The first one i think is abit over processed so i turn down the curves/levels abit which also heaps with the central details of M8.
