More Questions!!

Hi guys,

I'm back again. I've decided to pick up some 15x 70mm bino's the next time I'm in Brisbane, so that I can start some viewing, and in August/Sept. when I move back to Brisbane, i'll pick up a 10" Dob.

Anyway, I have realised that my n00b self is confused over the term, "focuser". I thought I understood it...crayford, pnr etc... But i don't actually know what it is.

Can someone please explain? Finderscope vs. focuser??

Oh, also, any suggestions as to what bino to buy? I was looking at this one: http://www.astronomyonline.com.au/De...D=788&cid=2824

well the focuser is the bit that you turn to focus the image and make it sharp. think of a camera lens.

The finder scope is a wide view "mini scope" that sits on top of the big scope. as it has a very wide view you use it to help you get the big scope in the right area.

and check out their product. I've bought three pairs of relatively cheap binoculars from them and am quite satisfied with them all.

In the size area you mentioned, have a look out for a pair of Vixen 11x80's. I managed to get a pair for some work I did a while back and they are excellent - both from a build standpoint and a lookee-through-the-holes standpoint.

I've no experience with these 70mm but if they are much the same as AOE's 12x60s I can tell you I'm happy with those. I'd be tempted to the 15x70s - but I just like having the magnification. Perhaps someone has direct experience.
