Saturn - 1-3-07 from Sunshine Coast

It was nice to get out and about again. I only managed two runs with saturn on the night, and this is probably the better of the two. Seeing was only moderate at about 4-5/10 with only moderate transparency (maybe 6-7/10)

8" SCT with 2.5X powermate. Baader colour filters and DMK. LRGB comination of approx 150/1500 each for the colour and 250/2500 for the Luminance. Capture rate 15 fps for the colour and 30 fps for the luminance. Processed in Reg 4 and combined in ImagesPlus. Colour touchup in Photoshop CS2.

These filters are a bit tricky to get the colour right.

Hi Paul

Wow – that looks very nice. All the good stuff is there; banding, colours, CD – where did you get the clear skies from…????

Cheers

Dennis

That looks stunning! Puts my effort to shame. Obviously all the decent photons landed at the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane only got some crummy scattered ones.

Thanks guys. It was a lovely night up here until about midnight when I decided to call it quites. It's a bugger when you have to go to work the next day

Still got a bit of work to do yet as I mentioned getting the colour balance right. Plus a bit of work on dealing with the graininess though I think I pushed the f/ratio and gain a bit too much for Saturn with my scope..

Very nice Paul, looks sharp too.
You'll get there with the colour balance.
There's always a bit of a learning curve to master when you get new gear.
