Finally Got a Job

I went for orientation and physical for a job on Monday to see if I was suitable for the work. I must have passed because today I got the phone call, I start this Sunday morning at 5.30am.
It'll be hard yakka, 11hr days, but the pay is good, and the shift I have chosen means that my days off coincide with the kids after school sports.
Yes, a very carefully chosen shift. I should be free to attend most of QLD Astrofest.

Congratulations, I'm still looking...

If it's not rude to ask, what do you do?

I'll be working for the Kilcoy Pastoral Company. (the local abbatoir)
I'm either going to be packing or training as a knife hand, whichever it is, I'll be working in the boning room.
Not the nicest job in the world, I know. But I've never been a girly girl, so it doesn't worry me. Too much.
You've just got to think of the $$$$.

By the time Astrofest comes around I'll have enough $$ put aside to buy something very nice.
I may need you guys to give me some help deciding what to get.

Congratulations Jeanette, I hope that it’s not too gruesome for ya and that everything goes well. Just don't cut yourself 'cos when I was a student and worked in my holidays, one of my mates worked in an abattoir and scratched himself and the bacteria infected the scratches, so please do take care.

Cheers

Dennis

Good on ya Jeanette, I hope it works out really well, especially dollar wise!

Mind you - your gonna have to buy a new car now, I've been past that staff parking lot MANY times as I'm sure you have, and you KNOW you won't fit in without a Landcruiser or a Patrol, preferably ute version.

I can't wait to see what you buy with your hard earned dollars!
Cheers!

She'll be right Dennis.
I'll be getting my Q Fever shot ASAP. Hygiene is to the extreme. On entering and leaving any room/area, you have to wash your hands up to the elbows with antibacterial stuff like a surgeon and scrub your footwear as well, tops and bottoms. The bacteria don't stand a chance.

Trivia - Kilcoy Pastoral Company are the sole suppliers of Beef to Disneyland.

Steve,
Why waste money on another car? I can think of many better things to buy.
1. ED80
2. EQ mount to suit the above.
3. 13mm Nagler

Good on you, don't know how long you have been out of work, but I can sense your happiness. Just remember when shopping for breakfast chops in future that you may have actually met before

Great news nothing like some cash flow and having in mind where it will flow to.
Good luck settling in and make sure you come home with all you take there..
