flame nebula

This pic is made up of 6 x120sec pics at iso1600 and 4 x 120s pics at iso800 stacked using extended addition in images plus using a brightness parameter of 400 to reduce the brightness of alnitak in the final pic. the image was then digitally stretched , cropped and processed in photoshop using levels and astronomy tools to give the final picture . the telescope was an lx90 , unguided , operating at F4.2 and the camera a 350D
regards philip
ps you can just see the horsehead nebula middle top of picture. Even with brightness parameter of 400 alnitak is still burnt out!

Nice shot I have been looking forward to getting a shot of the flame soon, but probably won't get around to it this season. Nice object. I can definitely see the bar and notch of the Horsehead too
