Rosette full process

The last image I posted of this object (actually my first time effort) I merely stacked everything RBG HA lum and O11 in one image and coloured it via Photoshop by copying the colours in an image I liked on the net.

This one I stacked each channel and let the colour go where it liked first individual process in Star tools and put together in Photoshop ...but I just cant seem to get the saturation down without making the image look very washed out...anyways hopefully its not as saturated as my earlier efforts.

The image is highly cropped as I have an oval star issue that I have yet to address completely.

All captures were around 40 seconds unguided and very high gain..to see what I could get away with really..not darks or flats and a few steps in startools I passed by because they just made things worse...I expect because of the high gain

I was happy with the detail assuming I have captured detail and am not looking at artifacts

I have been on this for two days and lost objectivity so I post now to get a stand back look

Very nice Alex. But agree with Leon- show the uncropped, or at least partially uncropped. Some background would offset it nicely

Yes its more than I would like.

Apart from the oval stars the main driver to crop with this image was when I stacked individualy.
I had severe border problems that were not shown in the total stack.
Which was interesting. May be used that total stack and see if I can hide the problem.

Here is the main reason for the crop.

Probably a bad sub as I stacked 100% hoping to get satellite trails but they seem to mostly disappeared...
Will restack everything and tell DeepSkyStacker to stack only 75%.

When I get time.

OK I approached this on the basis of trying to present a full frame even though the borders were terrible.
Restacked everything and dropped stacks that had really bad borders and then used Startools to try and fix things etc and the problems that were left used the burn tool (darkens) in Photoshop to darker the edges.
I also had great success with the Lens tool in Startools to reduce the oval stars a bit.
Anyways another day spent ..which is ok..as I am learning things I guess.

I called up images on the net and what surprised me was the extreme variation in colour approaches...I don't feel so bad as there seemed to be one in every colour

Damn it I did not include the mega stack ...Maybe next time.
Plus I think I have mixed up the image I intended to post as it had no border problems that you could notice.
I have so many variations of this object I need to delete them all and start over.

Hi Leon
I thank you for raising the heavy crop as a negative as I decided to have a go at seeing how the software could fix my issues.

What I have learnt from the exercise and from a similar approach with my incorrectly identified ghost neb is that Startools can really help out with oval stars and borders and how the dodge tool from photshop can also patch up the problem.

I need to get better data (longer exposures at a acceptable gain as some in this effort were 400☺) for all chanels really and include darks and flats...I cant see doing it properly on this object until the next time around.
