That Astromart thing

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=17336

With reference to the above, and also with an eye to keeping further conversationa away from that section, ALL new accounts on Astromart are charged at US$12 per. For some odd reason known only to Astromart, I've been banned twice and so currently do not have an account - if I need to get in I actually *do* borrow someone else's details... but only for looking at prices. Any correspondence goes back to him so he's quite capable of seeing what I am doing.

However, be aware that Astromart check such things as emails/ISP details and if your registration name/registered address changes then you *will* lose the account. I know this from experience.

I couldn't get another account even if I wanted to as my ISP would be recognised (I suspect they took umbrage because my email details are linked to a business and I am no sponsoring the site - so I had to go).

As it's only $12 what's wrong with paying? (Apart from the fact that it's a ridiculu=ous state of affairs!)

Charging to register seems silly and very bizzar. Why stop your customers walking in the front door by charging an entry fee? They may or may not buy something. Instead, make sure you cover your costs on sales actually made.

I'd be surprised if adding a charge to registering doesn't spell the end for them eventually. (It'd be a slow death, as so many buyers are repeat buyers.)

Who would shop at Coles if they charged 50c to walk in the door? You'd go somewhere else.
