Well it's that time our year & our first cyclone of the year is brewing off the coast of Nhulunbuy, set to become a cyclone by morning.
Time for the clean-up again

Hope it all holds together for you, and damage is minor.

Should be right, its only a small one thus far & looks to be heading south
But you can never be sure with a Cyclone

Thats the worst bit, the clean up, its not easy to appreciate the work in the aftermath of even a cat. 3.

I remember cyclones that went through resorts up north, we had to throw as much outside furniture etc into the swimming pools to save them. What a mess.

Still they can get exciting, hope things are safe up there for summer, but here,25' south, is well overdue for a hit.

Hasn't rained like this for 17 years. Forgot what sky looks like. Rain gauge has overflowed a couple of times today. I can't sleep for the wind slamming the rain against the house, and we don't even have a cyclone. It's all the Comet's fault.

Your right Kevin it's been a while since we've had rain like this. Radar has been like this for days. looks like a new low building in the coral sea as well. Radar image from BOM.

The threat is easing up here , looks like it will just deliver lots of rain
I know there are quite a few weather chasers here, does anyone have a good site that gives explainitory notes on the weather charts ?

G,day Ian,
The bureau of meteorology has heaps of different areas and it takes time to get through them but i'm sure you would find what you want to know. And yeah looks like it's just going to be rain and plenty of it.
Hope i've helped.
Cheers,
Duncan

Thanks All, Safe to say now that the cyclone will peter out as a rain depression in the southern Gulf.
