Helix

Here's about an hour of data (best 80% of 30 x 3 minute subs) taken earlier this month.

Amazed at how many small fuzzy galaxies there are in the background, never noticed them before to be honest, although I must admit they are pretty hard to make out on this compressed jpeg. In the larger file I think I can spot 21 small galaxies in the background.

I think I'll revisit this next new moon and see what detail I can pull out with more exposure time.

I'm ultra pleased with this new scope (secondhand FLT132), it really seems to pull some great detail with relatively short exposure times.

This is the last pic from my current setup as things are changing. I've got a field flattener to install (say goodbye to my elongated stars) and if all goes well an OAG and new guidecam also (hopefully tighter stars)

Good stuff Jon, nicely resolved and colour showing in the background stars. Yes, I think you've scored well in purchasing that refractor. Pity the new moon wasn't this weekend. Weather looking pretty stable down here for the next couple of days.

Thanks guys....things are working well at the moment.

Mike-weather is amazing up here this weekend so yes, pity about that moon!
I’ve just come in after sitting around a fire out 8n the front paddock, not a breath of wind up here and as clear as it could possibly be......however a little cold
