A Better Eta

This is another go at capturing Eta Carinea ..... 169 subs. 110 @ iso 400 and 59 @ iso 800 taken over 2 separate nights.

Question to all..... my picture once stacked and processed was quite beautiful and smooth with no graininess and sharp detail..... alas the JPEG was 41Mb. So I cut down the quality of the saved file to a size I could upload and this is what I ended up with..... How do you all keep the clarity in your pics when you shrink the file size ?

First you'd limit the size to a maximum width of 1024px wide let's say then try to compress it under 200kb. It's a good shot. Little soft but the field looks good at that FL.

I notice my reduced images and posting look different on different viewers and different platforms. Definitely a difference between the ipad and the large screen mac or W7 in Chrome.

I don't know if this is good but I simply export from light room with standard setting or PS as a JPEG with the slider set to max 350k and it seems to end up posted as under 200k . Perhaps it is a good tip to set the width also so it fits on the posting screen for others.. I will have to try that.
