Lunar Eclipse composite

Whilst it is just another eclipse, I would have to say it was one of the darkest I have seen in 45 years of observing the night sky. Visually it looked dark and ruddy. Binoculars were helpful to show the colour a little better but photographically the colour showed up well. Most of the images were around 2-4 seconds, whilst during the partial phase I used short exposures.

Click here for the larger and sharper image.

I hope you like the style. The image is not as sharp as I would like due to putting a 300mm f2.8 lens and D4 on a Skywatcher Star adventurer. Not really up to snuff for that type of load.

That's a great composition. I'm too lazy to do that.

I am still staring at this image sequence and I don't think anyone could have done a better job of capturing the event.

I have shared a link to the original image at paulhaese.net with all my interested friends.

Friends who missed it keep asking me "on no! why didn't you take any photos?!"
My answer was that because I wanted to relax and just enjoy this experience and because I know there are much more skilled people out there than me who will be taking photos. And I was spot on!

Thank you Paul. You have done the whole Aussie astro community proud!

That’s a great job Paul!
If I wasn’t recovering from the flu I’d have gotten up and attempted something
Love it
