Another New Toy and Lousey Weather

Just grabbed myself a SWEQ6GOTO V3.0** for under 2K delivered, Arrives Monday, would have been here tomorrow, but Aus Post have a rostered day off or something.

(I believe its a day when Australia does its very best to darken the skies with smoke and pollute the rivers with firework debris)

This aquisition is enough to bring fire and brimstone and ash laden skies in addition.. Sorreeeeee

** for 8 & 10" dobs

Excellent, I think you'll love it. Are you planning any photography?

One of the prime reasons is photography hence all the research into getting the 350D to mate into the focuser in prime mode. Plus with my ancient eyes it takes me a while to focus manually and by the time I get it, the earth has spun the object out of view esp on the 10" Also be interesting to try out the NexImage which certainly requires a an EQ mount

It was a difficult decision, but there is no "she who must be obeyed" to contend withPity it doesn't arrive till Monday as ASWA has its first event of the year on Saturday, the initial "Lunatiks" picnic. 5pm Whiteman Park.
Forecast for Perth next 3 days 39 40 38 I recorded 42 yesterday. cool change Monday...

Dave - congrats on the purchase! Should allow some great photography. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I agree about the weather - astronomy or no astronomy I hate hate hate summer and 35+ days, and this weekend sure is a hot one for us.

I'll be catching up on some image processing and web stuff today, in the cooler house (still not particularly cool).

Roger.

Quite a big step Roger from the El Cheapo 3" from EBay almost 12 months ago

Yeah. I decided to get some gardenning done early so just got back inside from 3 hours of that, starting to warm up out there, that's for sure. I was glad of the strong easterly wind blowing through though. Hits our house like a freight train as we look out across a valley.

Yeap, you certainly will see me tomorrow at the ASWA thing.. Not sure when though, I don't like the idea of sitting around Whiteman Park in 40 degree heat, it's a hot and dry place at the best of times. Debating between 5:30 before the gates shut and for a bbq or 7:30ish. Probabbly go for the latter purely because of the heat.
