Australian aurora from New Zealand

https://edition.cnn.com/travel/artic...and/index.html

They are talking about Aurora Australis while it happens in New Zealand and not Australia ?
Should it not be called Aurora Aotearensis ?
Anyway, the pictures are really awesome. Looks like a big dance party with light and lasershows and colored LEDs.

Well, Australis just means 'southern'. Hence why we were Terra Australis Incognito or Unknown Southern Land before settlement.

Suggest you find another place to put the pics...

That site insists on spamming the user with tracking cookies and ads to the point it’s unreadable - all the reasons why I block them.

Seeing it's on CNN, it's likely fake like everything else there (seriously, why anyone with a neuron reads CNN?)

The article was written up by Ian Griffin Director of the Otago Museum. He flew in SOFIA during their flights last week. He took some of the pics they used. He is a very keen and dedicated Aurora hunter.
