Downloading Movies

OK gadget geeks and tech guru's out there... (temporarily pretending I'm not one)...

Having just acquired a Creative Zen Vision W media player, that plays all these fancy MPEG and DivX media formats, I thought it'd be easy to download a movie from someone like BigPond Movies, plug the Zen into my TV and watch a Movie! I gave it a shot last night, didnt' get far (didn't get as far as downloading one).

It seems like a maze of media players, codec's, security licenses and proprietory software! I have to admit I'm confused, my laptop is full of media "stuff", and I'm not much closer to understanding it all.

I thought it'd be easy - with all these modern things like iPods etc I thought people watched movies 'on the go' ?

Anyone familiar with this kind of thing to give me some pointers??

Thanks!
