Best place to learn mirror grinding

I would like to learn how to grind my own mirrors for telescopes and am seeking a starting point. I have searched the local library for books, and there just does not seam to be any locally. I am wondering if anyone can point me to a good resource? i.e. - books, websites, etc

Thanks for any help

Yes. Good question.

This is something I'd also like to learn at some stage in my astro journey.

I know some astronomical societies and associations offer this as a service to its members.

Might be worth joining one and seeing who runs ATM workshops

Hi Acer. One of the first things you can do is join an Astronomy club. Most clubs have an instrument making section, specially in the US. You can also join this group http://www.atmsite.org/contrib/Pouls.../atmsect1.html theyare very helpful. Also try this link they are full of information. http://www.stellafane.com/misc/links.html#Figuring . I would also seriously consider buying How to make a telescope by Jean Texereau and A manual for amateur telescope makers by Karine and Jean- Mark Lecleire. both these books are available here http://www.willbell.com/tm/index.htm .

Regards Cristian
