Étalon for Takahashi fs-60cb

Hi everyone.

I have a takahashi fs-60cb which I would like to modify to be used as a solar scope. Can anyone suggest how to do this and whether there are any adapters to add a H-alpha étalon to the front of the scope. I am not interested In the daystar module as I don’t find it that impressive.

Thanks

John.

Both Coronado and Lunt can supply external Ha etalons.
https://luntsolarsystems.com/filters/
https://www.meade.com/solar.html
You then need an additional blocking filter either a 10mm or 15mm size.

You just need to find/ manufacture a suitable adaptor plate for the scope.
(I use an SM60 on an ED80 - works very well)

Hope this helps.

Thank for that awesome reply Merlin.

It was definitely helpful.

It is going to cost quite a lot of money I might as well buy a small dedicated scope....

Étalon plus blocking filter plus adapter will come close to 2-2.5k

I'm using a Solarmax 60 II filter set on my FS-60. Has a BF10, which is plenty. Works as intended. Yes you have to get an adaptor plate made.

I am looking for this setup.
Where did you have the adapter made?

I just bought this, but I was there at the time, and it was a bit cheaper then. They also have one that just slides over the front end without unscrewing the dew shield. That's the one I'd get today but it wasn't available when I bought my setup. Also, landed cost, despite 19% VAT coming off it, suggests you might be better off getting it made in Australia.

Such a niche market that they can basically charge whatever they want.
I might get one if I find a Coronado étalon for a reasonable price.

If anyone knows one for sale please let me know.

Really appreciate all your help everyone.
