Anttlers Optics encounters

I am sorry to hear of some delay purchases from Anttlers Optics. I have know Scott, of Anttlers Optics in the USA since 2003. I maintain and host his site at GeckoOptical.com. Items I have purchased from Anttlers Optics have for me arrived OK.

I can tell you for sure, the postal system in the USA is not at all up to scratch. I request a cheque payment be sent to an account in California. Scott from Anttlers Optics had sent the cheque from Michigan. The cheque took three months to get to San Francisco, CA. In the mean time Scott had cancelled that cheque. Weeks later it was sent to my address here in Australia, as cancelled.

My suggestion when buying astronomy goods from the USA. Avoid purchasing during their winter, as the weather can be extreme and a cause of delays. California is the worst for USPS postage. One recent call to CA, USA, my client says there are many postal delays.

My advice when purchasing items from overseas, make sure they are insured and if possible a tracking number. I sent from Australia to Holland a Celestron C8 OTA surface post. It never got there, but fortunately it was insured.

I shall make Scott, aware of Mike's excellent forum, and sad there has been some bad experiences to date with Anttlers.
