Decapitated Chicken

Last night I was capturing some data for Running Chicken Nebula. I don't have any calibration frames yet so I just ran everything as a Median stack in MaximDL and then used Visual Pinpoint to add the WCS header.

I then moved over to Pix Insight as it can create mosaics with the WCS headers. Told PI that I wanted it to output the image at 90º and at 10"/pixel. This is what came out! Not quite the result that I was expecting. I've managed images without flats before but this sensor NEEDS good darks with 300s exposures to remove the Amp Glow.

PI has done a good job stitching the stars and stuff considering the frames aren't quite in the right spot

The large structure at the top is clearly a cross between the head of a fish and the head of a baby goat, both in 3/4 profile, so a sea-goat or Capricorn.

I wonder what would happen if I intentionally rotated some of the images and then redid the WPC info. I’m pretty sure the top and bottom have both been rotated 180° so I wonder how much I can screw with PI
