What focal length were you working at?

afaik, Sirius B is a lot closer to the main star, but i'm not up on it's current position.

Could be? From SkyTools, I get the following:

Sirius
Multiple Star System
Magnitude: -1.46

AB: -1.44 +8.5 mag, PA 102° Sep 7.64" (2007.0)
In 1929: PA 129° Sep 1.40"

From Yale Bright Star Catalog:
B is first white dwarf ever discovered; predicted by Bessel (1844) on basis of orbital motion of Sirius, it was first seen by Alvan Clark in 1862, and its peculiar high temperature, small size and great density established by W. Adams in 1925.

Cheers

Here is a screen print from SkyTools that I have annotated with some measurements and positions. It doesn't seem to match your suspected “Pup star”, the small dot left of Sirius, which is a pity as I thought you had nailed it.

However, your image is still worth verifying using other sources in case I have made an error with SkyTools.

Good luck!

Cheers
