Looks like Apple are about to do another iPod with iPhone.
For Macophiles follow the link then click on 'Watch iPhone introduction'

Considering that the iMate which I just took on has a retail value of $1,400 or something like that, it makes the iPhone look cheap. I suppose that they can be sold on plans of some sort (being a phone) which will bring their "barrier' price right down anyway.

I still get confused with my old nokia phone with basic features but this iphone thingy, i would love to have one but i think the frustration would be to much for me to handle.

This is the area that Apple excels in - simplification of the user interface. After checking out www.apple.com I think that they've done another brilliant job on this one. It's so intuitive that I doubt you could actually mis-understand it. To all Apple detractors - take notice folks as this is an object lesson in "human" design.

Top marks for a great piece of technology, maybe i'm a bit scared of new tech stuff like this but like you said Chris, be a bit hard to mis-understand the user friendly touch screen operation of this unit.

Apple turned unix into an OS my mother could use without asking questions, so I reckon the usability on the phone will be good as well.

I think the phone runs a cut down version of OS X.

I think that $700 is pretty keen pricing actually. I'll be looking into one when my mobile contract runs out for sure.

a friend put me on to thi the other day and said something like "i'd get it if it had gps". I an wondering if since it seems to have OSX and bluetooth could you hook up a bluetooth gps to it and install some gps SW?
that would be cool
or if it has a CF slot there are CF gps anteneas...

i currently have a sony-erisson z520i... it serves its purpose.
cheryl and bec just bought new nokia somethings with upgradeable memory and mp3, bluetooth, everything... pretty flash

There may not be an iPhone.
Cisco own the trademark iPhone and are suing Apple.

I'm on the eMac right now but have a PC laptop for Astro imaging work.
The laptop is constantly under fire from viruses, not one on the Mac!
