Shipping Suggestions

I know this topic has probably been done to death. I may need to ship a scope in its case along with the accessories from Melbourne to Adelaide. What are the best options for shipping which could ensure no mis-handling like I have experienced with AusPost which I am reluctant to use this time. Looking for peoples actual experiences with various companies.

cheapest is to box yourself well & send depot to depot -i have used e-go & pack'n;'send, i find PnS com's better, e-go though only charged me $24 to ship a set of bike wheels -took 1 bus day from radelaide to melb -they just didn't notify me -i watched the tracking & went myself & picked up

Have used pack n send to send stuff in large cardboard cartons, no issues, nothing broken or missing.

I’ve used Aust Post many many times for small things, the only real issue with them is that there is a size and weight limit and the scope will exceed that.

If you are sending refractor, you are lucky.
I have sent my WO to Brisbane via normal A.Post (and feedback was - I have never seen better packing....), but Celestron GPS is much much higher risk - even through couriers - they are sorting items on conveyer belt (!) and cannot guarantee upright position needed.

Hans,
I've used eGo to send a 6" refractor to WA from Melbourne. No issues, no drama.

Having shipped THOUSANDS of industrial grade electrically sensitive products over the years, I can agree with Lee Andrews..........an extra 5 minutes packing saves thousands,,,,,,,,,,and don't mark "Fragile", if it's handled by a responsible person it will be fine, but if it's somebody having a bad day......

I've had a lot of gear sent to me from other IIS members, and all has been packed really well. (Thanks people!)
