4 kids! That would be hard. 3 is much, much harder than 2. I can't imagine how hard 4 is!
I love seeing my kids and playing with them everyday.. they're at a fun age.
I couldn't imagine not seeing them for a length of time.. 3-4 days at IISAC will be long enough for me!

Boy, the house must be quiet without them.
When do they come to visit next?

Phil, look forward to the day that they might 'choose' to come live with you.
My eldest daughter chose to live with me when she was 15, and I hadn't seen her since her 1st birthday!
It's a dream to hang on to mate.
As for my other kids, I got custody of them. I couldn't bare to be without them, so I sort of know your grief. I almost lost them. They were kidnapped once!!!!

Good to hear you spent some quality time with your kids, I know what it's like not to have day to day contact with your kids, it's something you will probably never be able to have but at least you can make the time you do have special. It's also nice to think that you can share your enjoyment and disappointment with us.

Hang in there, Phil! Both Lyn and I know what it's like. My kids were never as far away, but I think I have a pretty good idea! My kids are grown up now.
Lyn's girls were in Far North Queensland and like you she only saw them on school hols, but the good news is that they have moved down with us for the next year at least. They've only been here since Saturday.
There's a lot to be said for keeping busy, having some projects to work at, and good friends (even IISer's like Striker and others you haven't actually met!!! ).
Thanks for being open and sharing with us mate!
Al.

The main consolation you most probably have is they are in good hands when they are not with you. It is the one thing that kept me not feeling really bad for far too many years.
