Orion M42 nebula New Image

Hello there this pic was taken with a canon EOS 350D.Primefocus on Skywatcher 80mm Ed pro. These are first attempts.I posted a pic of B33 the other week. This one was taken on the 21/10/06 at about 11.18pm.The best thing with these digital camera's Is in the properties box they log all the shooting data ISO speed -Exposure time. the serial number of your camera body etc. This one M-42 Tv-139 secs /Iso 800/ Noise red. ON..Guided and tracked on EQ-5 Mount. This a shot of the mount,it's rough but it did the job. This basically the unprocessed image from the camera. This year I'm hoping to learn how to use photoshop. Tony

Very nice M42 shot Tony and I'm envious of your ED80 rig.
I got a book/tutorial called Photoshop Astronomy by R. Scott Ireland for Xmas which has proved very helpful so far. Lots of tips and tricks needed for us PS novices to get pleasing results. I've also discovered through a fellow IIS member(beren) the existence of Astronomy Tools - a set of Astrophotography specific "actions" which can be loaded and run in PS to work on pics to simplify things like noise reduction, chromatic aberration fixes etc. Might be worth a look - just google it to find the site.(NO NEED SEE POST BELOW!)
Cheers and Good luck
Doug
