Hi All,
For comparison two pictures of the Carina Nebula, taken with an ED80+Canon EOS300D (modded) one at F-7.5 the other with an F-6.3 Focal reducer added (Meade SCT one) although not a flat field it is of some use in getting a wider FOV, If anyone knows of a good flat field reducer for the ED80 id love to know what it is.
Hello there I just purchased a 0.6 focal reducer for $95.oo from Telescopes and astornomy in S.A.I have not used it yet.If I have got it right it will turn my ED80 Pro from F7.5 [0.6 X 7.5 =4.5] to run at F/4.5 .I had a look through it last night visually.easy to pic the biggger field.I am hoping it will work well at Prime Focus. Hi All, Thanks for the comments, and JohnG thanks for that info., I had a look at it, seems O.K. but the price is that of an ED80, bit expensive when you compare it to the Celsetron/Meade reducers, Anthony.tony- It will be interesting to see what your reducer does on the ED80, There is a MOGG reducer (no flattener) which works quite well, but with the expected Coma as there is no correction for this with just a single Lens, and its very affordable and does a good job, The Celestron/Meade reducers (F-6.3) work also but with some distortion.cheers......Jim
