Eye of the Needle NGC 247

Interesting target - with the added bonus of several more distant galaxies.

This was shot over two nights, neither of which was great for this low surface brightness galaxy: SQL 21.5, but seeing only 4" and poor transparency. Total exposure 5 hours 20 minutes, RGB only. Image scale 1.37"/px.

Processed in PI using PCC, a synthetic L made from all subs, with a touch of deconvolution to sharpen up the galaxy a little. Final fov approx 50' x 40'. Finished in PS.

ASA10N; Moravian G3-16200; DDM85A unguided.

Very nice result Mark, despite the less than ideal conditions, the colour is excellent and Burbidge's Chain of little Cylon Raiders has shown up well

Mark,
Good image, well done!
Just checked against the SN Charts....no SN!
but you did pick up the background Burbidge Chain of MGC galaxies.
(Edit - You beat me to it, Michael)

Beautiful colors. I like the little galaxies at the bottom left of the frame too. Nice one.
