I think it's Iron deposits oxidising in a thin sandstone layer

Blimey that was a bit technical for this time of the morning, might have to go and have a lie down now

Its the base of a continuous dripping area where the water has slowly erroded the sandstone/sediment layer away leaving a dohnut shape. the out ring caused by the splash and the central hole caused by the initial drop.....
