NGC 7424 is a barred spiral galaxy located 37.5 million light-years away in the southern constellation Grus. Its size about 100,000 light-years makes it similar to our own galaxy, the Milky Way. It is called a "grand design" galaxy because of its well defined spiral arms. One supernova and two ultraluminous X-ray sources have been discovered in NGC 7424.

Nice image Ben. This is an extremely faint galaxy so showing that much detail after only an hour is impressive.

I'm really surprised how my little 6 RC is going. But my new ASI 071 has made a big difference in my image quality. I'm still seeing whats the limit I can image with this camera. So far I can see down to Mag 19 stars, Mag 15 comet, and this is the faintest galaxy I have imaged so far.

I do live 1000m high and I'm between Bortal 3 and 4 for light pollution. So these do help with image quality.
